It is easy to forget about Brexit this month, with plenty of other events grabbing the headlines. Many are also getting tired of the twists and turns Brexit has taken and welcome the distractions away from Brexit headline after Brexit headline. As the Trump-Kim Summit ended with the signature of both leaders on a ‘comprehensive document’ and undisclosed details, forex traders didn’t show any reaction as price action remained calm.

Until the most recent meeting of British Prime Minister Theresa May’s inner cabinet which took place yesterday, the dynamics were split right down the middle. May had five voices for a soft Brexit and five voices for a hard Brexit which gave the PM the deciding vote. May initially voted to remain in the EU and while she has vowed to respect the vote of the British public, she has been leaning towards a softer Brexit.

Theresa May, the British Prime Minister, faced a series of defeats in the House of Lords on key Brexit legislation. The Tories don’t have a majority in the House of Lords and decisions taken there are not binding in Parliament. It can give an insight on where current proposals stand and where there is room for improvement or adjustments in order to reach a broader consensus. PM May does have a razor thin majority in Parliament thanks to her allies the DUP.
