The dollar rose slightly against a basket of major currencies on Tuesday, while the euro came under pressure due to new signs of economic difficulties in the eurozone, while the pound was trading near a weekly low pending a key decision by the Supreme Court about Johnson’s decision to suspend parliament.
This morning, the dollar was trading without sharp fluctuations against the yen at 107.53 and rose slightly against a basket of major currencies - up to 98.65.
The euro continued to hold below $ 1.10, falling on Monday after weak data on manufacturing activity in Germany.
The pound was also under pressure, trading at $ 1.2433 - near a weekly low – waiting for a Supreme Court decision.
The court must decide whether Prime Minister Boris Johnson acted illegally by suspending parliament a few weeks before Brexit. The results of the hearing may impede the implementation of Johnson's plans for Britain to leave the European Union in October.
Oil prices are falling on Tuesday after weak data on business activity in Europe and Japan forced the market to re-focus on unfavorable demand prospects, shifting focus from uncertainty around supply disruptions from Saudi Arabia.
Futures on Brent were down 0.65% to $ 64.35 per barrel, while futures on US light oil WTI were down 0.63% to $ 58.27.
Apple Inc shares rose 0.5% after US trade regulators approved 10 of the company's 15 tariff exemption requests. Micron Technology Inc., which supplies components for Apple, climbed 0.9%.
