Hello everyone, I am glad you joined me for this post where I will explain my Stress-Free Forex Dance. Now I know what you may think, what does a dance have to do with forex trading. I will explain in this post why I combine both and how I create a stress-free forex trading approach which has been profitable for me for the past eight years. I am 51 years old and I grew up in Colombia. I moved to Spain as a college student where I earned my masters degree in finance. I had to work two jobs as a college student just to make it through university on top of my scholarship.

I probably don’t have to tell you how hard it is to focus on your studies when you have to work multiple jobs. So I speak from experience when I talk about the impacts of stress. When people talk about forex trading, they often speak of strategies and how to earn money. They speak about the importance of psychology and emotions, how they can make or break your trading portfolio. Others stress, pardon the pun, the importance of learning before earning. Those are all very true of course and they play an important part when it comes to trading the forex market.

One thing which is often left out is the stress which accompanies trading. The number one cause of death amongst traders is heart failure which is often caused by stress. Suicide is number two and again related to stress. I have learned the hard way that in order to succeed as a forex trader long-term, you don’t only need the right strategy, capital and your emotions in control. For me, maybe the most important variable to control is stress which is directly related to trading. It doesn’t matter how much money you earn if you are not healthy enough, or worse if you are not alive, to enjoy spending it.

As I said, I speak from experience. Before I departed for Spain, I was a part-time dance instructor for Latin dance. Moving to Spain was an obvious choice for me, not just for the language but also for other cultural similarities. After I worked a part-time job at a restaurant, my friend told me about a dance school in Sevilla which was looking for a dance instructor. I applied for the job and to my surprise was hired a few weeks later. Dance has become my way of dealing with any stress I face. It gives me a great workout, I am in the presence of attractive women and Latin dance is a very seductive form of dancing.

Trading forex is very similar to dancing, at least in my opinion. Instead of a physical workout as with dance, you get a nice mental workout when you analyze currency pairs. Having a masters degree in finance, this is very appealing to me. I believe that you need to truly love something in order to be successful at it. When you dance you have attractive women to seduce, when you trade you are seducing attractive profits. I view each currency pair as a woman which I need to conquer. This approach has made forex trading a lot less stressful for me. There is money to be made in each currency pair, but it is up to the trader to determine how to unlock this, the same way it is up to the male dance to determine how to engage with the female one.

After I started my career in finance and one of the Spanish banks with exposure to the Latin America, I did so at the analytics desk for foreign exchange. I had to work long hours, had little to no time off and worked weekends. After three years of this I had a breakdown at the office which was traced back to stress. Prior to that I paid little attention to stress levels and was focused on delivering results. As I was hospitalized I took a breather and realized that I need to make an adjustment. The easiest one was to reduce the hours worked to a normal work week with occasional overtime.

I still trade forex for the same bank which hired me out of university, but I also trade my own accounts. This creates extra pressures on my daily trading process, but they are slightly limited as both deal with the same material. When you dance, you don’t dance with multiple women at the same time. You focus on one woman only, dance with her for the night and you may repeat this with another dance partner the next night. I do the same with trading forex. Rather than focusing on several currency pairs at once, I select one currency pair per day. I analyze it properly, spend the time it requires in order to seduce those pips out of it. I use the same mindset as with dancing.

This takes a lot of stress out f trading. After you analyzed your one currency pair and created your entire trading set-up from entry through exit before adding it to your trading portfolio, you are done for the day. You only have so much energy to dance and you can only invest a certain amount of true focus into an analysis. Don’t rush, don’t overtrade. There will always be another dance, another dance partner and another seduction. The same is true forex trading and a lot easier. There will always be another currency pair, another trading set-up and a lot of pips to be seduced out of the most liquid financial market on the planet.
