The features of the Meta Trader 4 and the cTrader platforms are very close. With both of them offering a wide range of indicators and automation tools. It goes without saying that the choice of the trading software is vital, as it will be one of the main factors that determines whether you are going to succeed or fail in the forex market. Even though forex is a comparatively new market for retail traders, it is one of the most technologically advanced.

In terms of availability of these two platforms, Meta Trader still marks its presence in the majority of the trading market. MetaTrader4 was launched in the year 2005 by a firm, named as Meta Quotes. It is a Russian software company. After the launch of MetaTrader4, it has claimed its dominance in the trading world. Several software firms have developed plenty of other trading software in the hope of having a good competition against MetaTrader4. However, most of the attempts remained only an attempt.

Meta Trader 4, also known as MT4, is an electronic trading platform widely used by online retail foreign exchange speculative traders. The software is licensed to foreign exchange brokers who provide the software to their clients. The software consists of both a client and server component. The server component is run by the broker and the client software is provided to the broker’s customers, who use it to see live streaming prices and charts, to place orders, and to manage their accounts.

Lately people are searching for ways to enter the market directly without intervention of market maker and this is where cTrader come to play. cTrader Limited is a London based firm that owns the cTrader forex trading platform. Its uniqueness is derived from the fact that it is specially tailored for use with ECN brokerages. The cTrader has remained one of the most rumored competitor to the more dominant Metatrader4. This platform is available as a standalone application for Windows-based PCs, as a web trading app and it also features mobile trading applications.

It can be said that MetaTrader4 is still the dominating platform in comparison to most of its competitors, but cTrader is not too far behind. Finally, the features of both the platforms are very close. With both of them offering a wide range of indicators and automation tools, MetaTrader4 and cTrader have a very promising future in the trading world. However, MetaTrader4 is a clear winner in terms of availability. Additionally, with having a higher number of developers available to develop expert advisors, MetaTrader4 is still ahead of cTrader in the race of trading.
