Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Amazon (AMZN) has laid off at least four employees who have publicly expressed concerns about the security conditions at Amazon warehouses. In a letter sent on May 6 to CEO Jeff Bezos, the senators argue that Amazon has made "vague public statements" about internal policy to justify actions taken against employees. The senators now want the details of the policy to be clear so that the dismissal of employees who have raised health and safety concerns does not constitute retaliation for reporting misconduct. Amazon stood up for its actions by saying that workers are not fired for speaking out in public, but for violating the policy such as intimidation, physical distance and more.
